Sample Letter One
Kellogg is more than a business. We care about nourishing people with our foods, feeding those in need, nurturing our planet, and living our founder’s values. We take these responsibilities personally—not just because it’s good business, but because it’s the right thing to do.
Science shows that climate change will reduce the world’s food productivity and food security. That will happen at the same time our population requires us to feed more people with fewer natural resources. So we believe that it is critical that we work hard in the face of climate risk to help farmers thrive, protect the land where our foods are grown and made, and address hunger today and for generations to come.
We can accomplish those goals by doing simple things; helping to improve the lives of our farming families and their communities, giving our foods the best possible start by protecting lands where our ingredients are grown, and by serving as a leader in relieving hunger.
Sample Letter Two
We have a longstanding commitment to sustainability because it’s deeply connected to the journey of our foods. Since 2008, we’ve reduced greenhouse gas emissions from our manufacturing plants by 12%. But to create climate-smart agriculture in the places where our ingredients are grown, we have to do more. That’s why we’ve joined others at the COP21 climate summit in Paris—to take action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. And I’m happy to announce that we will:
- Require 75% of our suppliers to report carbon activities and cut emissions by 2020.
- Cut our own greenhouse gas emissions by 65 percent by 2050.
We’re listening. Today, and every day, Kellogg is using our voice to advocate about these important issues.
We hope that you’ll help us build that future together.
