Q:

What about removing BHT from your cereals?
Martha S.,
Prince George, VA

A:

BHT is a common preservative, approved by the FDA. Only the smallest amounts necessary are added to either the package liner or the food itself to preserve flavor and freshness of our products. We are always listening to the needs of our consumers and know some people are looking for options without BHT.

For more than a year, we have been actively testing a number of natural alternatives to ensure the same flavor and freshness. Knowing that some consumers are looking for options, several of our cereals do not contain BHT, including Special K Original, Special K Red Berries, Raisin Bran Original, All-Bran Original and Crispix.
