I am trying to eat more cereals with less added sugar. My favorite cereal is Kellogg's Raisin Bran, which I have discovered has sugar added to the raisins. Am I able to purchase a cereal from Kellogg's with little or no sugar that I can eat daily to help me with my diet?

A:

While overall sugar intake should be moderated, when choosing a cereal it is important to consider the invaluable contribution of the other components of the food. Many cereals are excellent sources of multiple vitamins and minerals, good sources of fiber, contain little or no fat and are cholesterol-free.

A complete breakfast including ready-to-eat cereals, sweetened or not, may help control calorie intake throughout the day, and is typically linked to a lower Body Mass Index (BMI) for cereal eaters versus non-cereal eaters and breakfast skippers.
